  • Continuing opportunity for an Associate Professor (Teaching and Research)

  • Base Salary from $174,618 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The School of Medical Sciences is recognised as one of the leading centres for medical science in the world. Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas. With over 100 years of excellence in education, the school teaches into a broad range of courses including, medical science, applied science, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, medicine and dentistry.

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated candidate for the position of Associate Professor in the Science of Circadian Rhythms, Sleep, and Health. The successful candidate will join our esteemed faculty and contribute to our commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in the fields of circadian biology and sleep science.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • contribute to outstanding educational design, delivery, evaluation and outcomes

  • engage in pedagogical research and/or scholarship and apply learnings for improved student outcomes

  • actively contribute to the research, education and administrative activities of the discipline/ School/ Faculty

  • contribute to creating a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled

  • maintain an understanding of the University's strategic agenda and actively contribute to furthering that agenda.

About you:

  • a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) in a relevant field, such as psychology, biology, sleep medicine, neuroscience, or a related discipline

  • a strong research background and a demonstrated record of scholarly productivity, including publications in reputable scientific journal/s

  • success in securing external funding through competitive grants and/or contracts

  • proficiency in designing and implementing advanced laboratory-based and field research techniques relevant to Circadian Rhythms and sleep science

  • expertise in analysing and interpreting complex datasets related to Circadian Rhythms, sleep, and Health outcomes

  • teaching experience at the university level, including the ability to develop and deliver courses, mentor students, and assess learning outcomes

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate scientific concepts to diverse audiences

  • strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across disciplines

  • a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in research, teaching, and service.
