The Opportunity
We have a position available for a high-achieving, innovative and resourceful Level D academic to join UniSC's Nutrition and Dietetics discipline within the School of Health.
Join our passionate team and be a driving force in teaching, research, and engagement in Nutrition and Dietetics. Based at the new Moreton Bay campus, you'll collaborate with staff to lead the development and delivering of the new Master of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition) to ensure quality learning experiences for students. Your established leadership qualities, research profile, teaching experience and strong professional networks in Nutrition and Dietetics will be an asset to our growing team. About you
Our candidate will possess strong subject matter expertise, pedagogical expertise, excellent communication skills, a passion for teaching and learning, a student-centered approach, and a commitment to innovative and engaging teaching methods.
This includes a deep understanding of pedagogical principles and instructional strategies, including implementing effective teaching methods to enhance student learning outcomes. You will create a conducive learning environment, maintaining discipline and fostering a positive atmosphere for learning. Assessment and feedback; designing fair and relevant assessments to evaluate student progress and areas for improvement. Adaptability and flexibility; adapt to diverse learning needs and situations, adjusting the teaching approach based on student feedback and emerging educational trends. Continuous professional development, a commitment to own professional growth and development, actively seeking opportunities to expand knowledge, attend workshops, conferences, and engage in research to stay current.
You will possess:
  • Proven track record as an effective teacher, the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching;
  • Recognition as an Accredited Practising Dietitian by Dietitians Australia;
  • Membership and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups;
  • Sound and established track record of research activity commensurate with the level of the position;
  • Evidence of participation in academic development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic;
  • Extensive experience and success in academic administrative functions within a University; and
  • Positive leadership contributions and personal qualities that influence the development and maintenance of a positive academic environment which is conducive to high levels of engagement and standards of achievement for both staff and student.
Desirable
  • Completion of postgraduate education or recognised training in sports nutrition (for example; International Olympic Committee Diploma in Sports Nutrition or the Sports Dietitians Australia (SDA) sports nutrition course).
  • Postgraduate qualifications in higher education
  • Experience with external professional accreditation of dietetic education programs in Australia
