  • Full time, continuing position as an Associate Professor (Teaching and Research) in Medical Sciences

  • Make a significant contribution to the School of Medical Sciences

  • Base Salary $174,618 + 17% superannuation

Our team of educators and researchers lead internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas.

The Associate Professor (Teaching and Research) in Medical Sciences is a subject matter expert, works under broad direction to deliver goals strategically and autonomously within set timeframes. They resolve complex matters, provide sound advice and exercise independent judgement to achieve goals. They may have staffing responsibilities or determine resourcing needs.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • maintaining a national and international reputation for academic excellence through independent and innovative contributions to research and education, expanding knowledge and practice in the discipline

  • leading developments in research to enhance the research profile and reputation of the university, such as internationally funded research projects or partner-engaged research projects

  • coordinating and engaging in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the university's expectations and standards for education, including supervising higher degree research students to successful completions

  • developing and leading innovation in curricula and programs to enhance the university's standing as a national leader in education

  • making significant contribution to governance and collegial life within the university, including research, education, and administrative activities

  • contributing expertise to community and alumni engagement and build long-term collaborative relationships for impactful outcomes in research, development, commercialisation, and policy improvement.

About you

  • a PhD in relevant area

  • national or international reputation for excellence in human genetics, human genomics, anti-microbial resistance, cell based therapies or RNA based therapies

  • an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the higher education sector

  • experience in people leadership within the higher education sector, including demonstrated success in supervising and/or mentoring others towards success

  • proven leadership, commitment and passion for engaging in scholarly and/or pedagogical research activities, recognised at a national level

  • wide network of established relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of education in the discipline, School, Faculty and University.
