About the role and where you will be working:
The Assurance Manager partners with stakeholders across all areas of Southern Cross Care (WA) to conduct independent and objective internal assurance reviews and to ensure legislative compliance requirements are met.
The Assurance Function is focused on enabling SCC(WA) to identify, manage and respond to risks, events and opportunities in a systematic and effective manner to enable SCC(WA) to achieve its strategic objectives.
This role is located in our central office in Rivervale and is part time at 56 hours a fortnight.
- Develop and maintain a program to enhance awareness of risks, control and opportunities for continuous improvement that contributes to enhanced controls across the organisation;
- Maintain and update the rolling Three Year Assurance Programme;
- Liaise with Executive and senior managers to plan and conduct complex reviews of SCC(WA)’s operations, internal controls, policies, management of information, governance frameworks and systems in accordance with best practice;
- Communicates and works together with relevant stakeholders in preparing assurance review reports to clearly identify observations, findings and business improvement opportunities;
- Provides recommendations, advice and direction on control strategies, frameworks, policies and accountability measures and mechanisms;
- Utilise a risk- based approach to prioritise, schedule and complete the Assurance Programme;
- Delivering regular assurance reports to FRAC, appropriate committees, leadership teams and executive, complete with actionable plans for avoiding or preventing potential threats at all levels;
- Conducts special purpose investigations where required;
- Implement the Legislative Compliance Framework and provide regular reports to the Executive and Board of any changes that may impact on operations.
To be considered for this role, you’ll need:-
- Appropriate qualification and/or experience in finance, internal audit, external audit, Law or risk management;
- Significant experience in modern auditing and evaluation concepts, techniques and best management practices;
- Experience managing audit, assurance or risk function in large organisations, particularly the management of interdependencies and interactions between multiple business units would be highly regarded;
- Highly developed conceptual, analytical and research skills to identify and assess issues, design practical solutions and business processes;
- Highly developed verbal, communication and inter-personal skills to positively influence staff within the organisation at all levels from Executive to front line staff;
