Position Overview

ECS are seeking the assistance of a Principal level Environmental Approvals and Compliance Assurance Manager to join their growing team.

Note: Candidates with appropriate experience in either Environmental Approvals or environmental Compliance Assurance are also encouraged to apply. 

Key Duties and Tasks

Duties will include, but not be limited to environmental services listed below:

  • Utilise your technical background to manage, coordinate and deliver high-quality work in a broad range of areas including, but not limited to Environmental Approvals, Compliance Assurance, monitoring, reporting and general advisory services
  • Lead, manage and mentor the ECS teams responsible for delivery of Environmental Approvals and the Environmental Compliance Assurance Process (ECAP) (Anticipated team size 5-10 FTEs)
  • Foster a collaborative and proactive team environment and culture
  • Further develop, optimise, streamline, and automate the ECAP
  • Manage, compile, and contribute to the development and submission of environmental approval documents (such as Environmental Plans and Environmental Impact Statements/Assessments)
  • Manage the Environmental Approvals process for new and existing projects
  • Coordination of technical environmental assessments, authoring of documents and integrating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver successful outcomes
  • Deliver small to large sized projects across a range of industries and clients
  • Manage projects including plans, schedules, budgets, supervision of team members and client interaction
  • Assist in developing proposals for key clients
  • Site visits to conduct audits, inspections, training or monitoring as per client / job requirements
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of ECS Management Systems, processes, and management actions
  • Implement best practice and introduce innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Position Requirements

  • A tertiary Degree in Environmental Science, or equivalent
  • Desired – 15+ years’ experience in an environmental role within the resources industry or an associated government department
  • Proven experience in managing teams and projects
  • Advanced report writing, interpersonal and communications skills
  • A strong understanding of Microsoft software applications
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and understanding of Australian State and Federal environmental legislation and approval frameworks
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Australian marine and terrestrial environment
  • Desired – Experience in use of GIS software
  • Be flexible, efficient and possess the desire and ability to work on multiple projects at any one time.
  • Construction Industry Induction Card (White/Blue Card)
  • Driver’s Licence

Additional training may be required to fulfil ECS and client requirements. This will be provided by ECS or the Client, on an ‘as required’ basis

Employment Conditions

  • Permanent full-time position (40 hours per week)
  • Compressed Working Week (CWW) available as optional (i.e. 9-day fortnight)
  • Work from home arrangement available (computer hardware, Office365 and other software packages provided by ECS as required)
  • Work from Client office premises or on Client sites as required
  • Pro-rata site uplift available for site-based work scopes
