Flexible location: Sydney / Melbourne / Brisbane / Canberra

The Assurance Officer operates within the second line of assurance to mitigate the risk of non-compliance with our obligations by providing enterprise transparency and delivering standardised compliance-related procedures, tools, and guidance to the organisation.

This role ensures that Aruma has the appropriate frameworks and practices to meet its legal and statutory obligations concerning regulatory compliance matters, including internal audits, privacy, modern slavery, and whistleblowing.

A day in the life of an Assurance Officer... Create and maintain a register of all compliance requirements. Develop and maintain an annual map of all assurance activities across the organisation (e.g., external audits, internal audits, site inspections). Maintain and enhance the obligations mapping framework with supporting templates, including interpreting and documenting compliance with Aruma's obligations. Develop and implement a framework for first line of defence monitoring and self-assessment. Monitor and analyse results from assurance activities to identify trends and themes for corrective action or improvement opportunities. Conduct process risk reviews on behalf of functions or operations as requested. Provide input into the Internal Audit Annual Programme and their audit framework design from a risk and compliance perspective. Develop and manage a Business Ethics Framework, consolidating existing practices into a single framework and implementing it (including developing sub-documents such as a conflicts of interest procedure as needed). Build compliance awareness among staff by providing support, communications, and training within the organisation. Offer advice and support to internal stakeholders regarding privacy-related incidents and deliver training and continuous improvement. Design and maintain processes to manage other regulatory compliance matters as required.

Skills and Experience which will make you stand out... 3+ years' experience in compliance and/or internal audit. Tertiary qualification in Legal, Business, or Commerce (preferred). Experience designing and documenting assurance and/or privacy policies, procedures, and frameworks. Experience developing assurance maps, compliance matrices, and obligations management procedures. Project Management certifications (PMBoK, Prince2 Practitioner, Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt). Experience with not-for-profits or NDIS service providers. Experience in privacy, data protection, privacy law, security, risk management, auditing, and/or compliance. Detailed knowledge of Australian and New Zealand regulatory privacy regimes.
