THE ROLE – ATHLETICS COACHES 2024
St Margaret's has a long history of success in athletics. Participation and interest in this sport has resulted in St Margaret's becoming one of the most successful schools within the QGSSSA competition and in state and national competitions. This athletics season runs from May to September.
The athletics program is coordinated by our Head of Athletics and Development, Teacher Coordinators, a number of Lead Coaches and Coaches. Coaches lead four training sessions per week. The QGSSSA competition is held in September at the Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre (QSAC), Nathan. Competition meets will be held on Friday evenings from mid-August to September at The University of Queensland (St Lucia Campus) or QSAC (Nathan).
We are currently seeking specialist Athletics Sports Coaches in disciplines including throws, sprints and jumps for the 2024 Track and Field Athletics season:
Coaches - The role of coach is to deliver coaching sessions developed by the Lead Coach and which encourage students in skill and technique development. To view the position description please click here.
ABOUT YOU
You will be an experienced and qualified coach who has a proven ability to develop young Athletes’ techniques and skills and instil a passion for the sport.
Essential requirements:
- All coaches must have, or be working towards, a minimum Athletics Australia – Level 1 Coaching or Australian Track and Field Coaches Association (ATFCA) Foundation Course accreditation. Further National or recognised accreditation will be highly regarded.
- Previous coaching experience. Experience coaching jumps and throws is highly desirable.
- Experience in athletic disciplines.
- A working with children blue card or exemption card.
- A current first aid and CPR certificate.
