Our client is a specialist integrator and contractor in sound reinforcement, Audio Visual systems, performance lighting and production communications. With over 50 year history the company is independent, Australian owned and Sydney based, operating locally, nationally and globally.
The Role: AV Project Manager
The Project Manager is responsible for the full life cycle of assigned projects from planning and inception to commissioning and handover, whilst concurrently ensuring the project is delivered on time, to budget, and to the required standards.
A core component of the role will be working collaboratively with the team to ensure the successful delivery of quality projects in accordance with the project scope.
Key Duties:
• Coordinate with relevant internal parties to ensure that project requirements, schedules and budgets are understood.
• Create project breakdown and analyse costs associated with each section of a project.
• Review program and project status ensuring time lines are on schedule.
• In concert with the Manager, Installed Systems adjust project programs, staffing levels, deliveries etc. to ensure project delivery is on track and to budget.
• Monitor progress of project expenditure providing reports to the Manager, Installed Systems.
• Be responsible for the movement of supplies and equipment from suppliers to and from PAP, off site storage facilities (if applicable) and to the work site.
• Develop detailed methodology of installation of pre-works.
• Ensuring installation documents including site information, system block diagrams, equipment layout, cable schedules, rack layouts, metal/woodwork drawings are ready to give to the install team prior to commencement of installation.
• Creating detailed bill of materials, purchase requisitions and special requirement lists for action by various teams and departments.
• Coordinate and manage subcontractors as required.
• Prepare and implement detailed methodology for each day of works.
• Develop labour plans for projects detailing what types of staff are required each day (riggers, fitters, welders, machinists, carpenters, electricians).
• Conduct day to day analysis of project progress and identify and communicate problems in delivery, site, builder and subcontractor progress.
• Liaise with relevant parties (e.g., Installers) to ensure forward planning and necessary and up to date documentation and resources (permits, deliveries, access etc.) are available so that their works can proceed as per the project program.
Experience Required:
• Must have a Minimum of 5 years of experience in the audio-visual industry
• Tertiary qualification in Project Management is highly desirable
• A solid understanding of project management principles and project management methodologies, and previous experience managing small to medium projects
• Solid understanding of construction methodologies including cable installations and structural integrity of materials.
• Well developed skills to read and interpret plans, drawings, design documentation and specifications with an attention to detail when preparing material lists and project plans.
• High-level of PC literacy, including proficient in Microsoft Excel, Project, Word and Outlook and understanding of CAD programs.
• Excellent costing/estimating base showing accurate margin delivery, coupled with solid commercial acumen with a strong financial focus.
• Demonstrated understanding of system integration and limitations.
• Demonstrated experience effectively managing and leading a team
• Highly effective time management and organisation skills
• Highly personable with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with a broad range of people
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong English language skills
• Good understanding of commercial contracts and terms
• Commercial acumen and financial management; able to manage project budgets
