Job description

Brisbane Sound Group is looking for a full-time Sales Specialist to assist our team.

This position has a strong focus on developing sales in Professional Audio, Studio, Vision and Lighting with knowledge across all these areas an advantage. The candidate must be available to work some Saturdays.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide quotations to clients providing a balance of products suitable to the clients needs and budget requirements.
  • Serving customers at the front counter and answering the phone.
  • Responding via oral and written communication to client enquiries in a timely manner.
  • In conjunction with the sales operating procedures, maintain an easy-to-follow paperwork trail for all client's orders.
  • Liaise with Suppliers regarding pricing, stock availability and alternatives as relevant to each sales order.
  • Responsible for tracking the arrival and availability of ordered equipment for each customer sale and advising customers and other staff if applicable of any delays.
  • Always keep customers up to date with the progress of their order.
  • Suggest stock holding of core equipment within your specialised product range to the Sales Manager for bulk purchases and new product or product line acquisitions.
  • Liaise with other members of your department regarding core consumable stock holdings and maintain adequate inventory to meet customer demand.
  • Provide comprehensive demonstrations both in store and on-site using language and information relevant to the client's current technical knowledge and requirements.
  • Participating in achieving collective sales targets.
  • Maintain operating showroom displays for products.
  • Ensure that all sales staff has a basic understanding of how these displays work.
  • Proactively set specials within your specialist department and evaluate stock availability to either stop the promotion or set new specials.
  • Always treat customers how you would want to be treated and assist any customers that we cannot help with an alternative.
  • Provide technical support to other internal departments and external clients.
  • Participating in training of both new and existing product available in the market.
  • Attend any meetings that are requested by the Sales Manager or any other departmental Manager that requires your presence.
  • Adhere to all relevant health and safety procedures and company policies.

Secondary Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Develop plans to increase production turnover and profit for implementation upon approval from the Sales Manager.
  • Recommend to the Sales Manager beneficial staff training that may be required.
  • Research current industry and trends relating to technical equipment to ensure stock resources meet industry standards.
  • Ensuring the sales department always looks professional and tidy.
  • Make suggestions to the Sales Manager on ways to increase productivity and improve policies and procedures.
  • From time to time you may be required to assume additional duties and responsibilities to cover Employees that are on leave.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in industry related sales (preferred but not essential).
  • Extensive knowledge of Professional Audio, Lighting, A/V and Studio equipment
  • Well developed analytical & problem-solving skills with ability to develop technical ideas from concept to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a departmental team.
  • Well developed written and aural communication with the capacity to negotiate successfully and provide high quality customer service to a diverse client base.
  • Organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to negotiate with customers and trade suppliers.
  • Computer literacy in all general office software and the ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to work a flexible time schedule when required.
  • Knowledge of workplace Health and Safety Issues, duties, and responsibilities as applicable to this position.
