Primary Details Time Type: Full timeWorker Type: EmployeeLocation: SydneyType: Permanent, full timeThe opportunityAs part of QBE’s global Finance function, this role will report into the Head of Group Accounting Policy, and will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of Group accounting policies, providing advice on accounting matters to support commercial decision-making and supporting the delivery of the statutory financial statements and related board reporting for the Australia Pacific (AusPac) division. In this truly visible and outward facing role, you will interpret and practically apply accounting standards, train global finance teams on the latest developments and be an expert advisor to the business on commercial transactions and complex accounting matters.Your new roleIn this role you willDevelop Group accounting policies, and drive the implementation of Group accounting requirements across the Australia Pacific division by providing and maintaining accounting guidance to support practical application in a commercial setting.Partner with finance and business teams across QBE to provide accounting advice and support on a wide range of complex transactions and projects, with a focus on the Australia Pacific division.Support the delivery of the Australia Pacific statutory financial statements and play a key role in driving associated Board reporting deliverables on critical judgements and estimates and key accounting matters.Deliver training for the global finance community in relation to the application of Australian Accounting Standards.Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders and maintain strong relationships to drive excellent outcomesAdvocate an effective risk and compliance culture by effectively designing and implementing procedures, with control evidence where appropriatePlease note that for the successful candidate, this process will include a phone screen with our Talent Acquisition team, 2/3 interviews (including psychometric testing and case study) and background checks.About youTo be successful in this role, you will be an experienced Accountant within the insurance sector with solid technical accounting skills plus a passion for people and stakeholder engagement.
