We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Automation Engineer at Perth Office CBD on a Permanent Full-Time basis.
About this role
As the Automation Engineer you will be required to deliver engineered solutions to Automation applications and substation control which contribute directly to the delivery of electricity to our customers in a safe, reliable and affordable manner.
- To analyse a problem and to propose cost effective solutions in its resolution.
- To effectively plan for the most expedient delivery of a given project making the most efficient use of the resources available.
- To manage risk in the delivery of Automation solutions.
- Apply the relevant Australian and international standards in design.
- Ensure compliance to Western Power standards and network technical rules.
- The delivery of technical solutions, engineering processes and system optimisation.
- Developing one's own skills and technical expertise and accepting coaching where required.
- Managing one's own performance and improving personal effectiveness.
About you
We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
- Degree qualification in Engineering (Electronics / Electrical / Computing) recognised by Engineers Australia as satisfying the academic requirements for appointment as a professional engineer
- Solid engineering experience in SCADA systems, particularly with regard to power transmission and distribution, with an ability to read schematic diagrams.
- Familiarity in the hardware employed and the nomenclature used with regard to Primary and Secondary systems as utilised in Transmission and Distribution Substations.
- A detailed understanding and working knowledge of SCADA system designs, SCADA RTU and Gateway configurations, PLC configuration, HMI configuration, Ethernet switch and router configurations and database systems.
- The ability to operate in the field for prolonged periods of time in remote locations.
- Valid WA Driver's License Class ‘C' or ‘C-A'
