Role Description:
MiTek are seeking a qualified Electrician to join our team in Melbourne, Australia. Working within the industrial automation business area, you will be responsible for leading the electrical function for new site installs, operational breakdown, maintenance, and improvement requirements.
You must be prepared to travel (sometimes at short notice) within Australia and sometimes overseas to undertake service work and training. The ability to work flexible hours is also a requirement since some after-hours customer service is required.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead site installations and assembly of machinery (Electrical).
- Managing electrical breakdown and carrying out repairs on machinery in a safe manner.
- Integrating safety devices (PLC, Relays, light curtains, scanners) to existing and new machinery
- Routine maintenance and inspection through computerised maintenance systems.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with plant and machinery that may be mechanical or electrical in nature.
- Understanding of principles and application of pneumatic systems
- Diagnosing faults with servos drives, VSDs, sensors, cabling, mechanical systems such as bearings, gearboxes, belts, motors, conveyors, etc.
- Reporting all hazards, incidents and injuries to line manager as soon as reasonably practicable (including near hits).
- Working with suppliers to ensure adequate spare parts are kept on site.
- Develop and implement safe systems of work without supervision and provides technical guidance when required.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and systems for emergency repairs and carry out preventive maintenance inspections.
- Lodge and review product warranty claims, including evaluation and providing recommendations for technical solutions.
- Advanced Knowledge of electrical components, and the ability to operate and understand PC controls.
- Ensure that maintenance operations comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Working knowledge in reading and troubleshooting Rockwell Software PLC and HMI software (Highly regarded)
- Perform other tasks as deemed necessary by management staff.
Core Competencies:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience working as an Industrial Electrician in manufacturing environment.
- Solid experience in site installation, servicing and troubleshooting of machinery and equipment.
- Able to read and understand wiring diagrams, installation manuals, schematics and instructions.
- Able to work unsupervised and have good time management skills and meet scheduled deadlines.
- Computer literate and be able to learn new software systems.
- As the position involves a high degree of customer contact you will also have good communication skills
- Contributing to the improvement of the plant by assisting to identify improvement and automation opportunities.
- Ability to produce electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical (Highly regarded)
