Job description

About the role:

In this important role, you will deliver training and assessment activities for students studying Certificate III in Carpentry via an on-the-job apprenticeship model.

With apprentices having their learning and assessment primarily completed at their workplaces, travel will be required to building and construction workplaces for pre-arranged training and assessment activity to be completed. All associated travel expenses will be reimbursed by the company. Accordingly, a region to be supported may be up to 75km from the location of the successful applicant.

Multiple roles are available in Greater Melbourne with positions considered full-time and Contractor.

Key tasks include:

  • The delivery and assessment of the CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry qualification in part or full focus on completing this on-site with students
  • Consulting key clients on their existing and future workforce training needs and supporting the enrolment process for new apprentices
  • Reviewing, validation, moderation, and continuous improvement of the training resources and assessments for the qualification above
  • Working with the Training Operations team to support the scheduling of on-site training and assessment activity
  • As required - liaising with Employers, Apprenticeship Support Networks, and other stakeholders regarding the promotion of and enrolment into Apprenticeships offered, and the progress of apprentices completing their studies.

About you:

We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on individual who upholds the highest standards and will lead by example. You will have demonstrated success in a similar role within an RTO/TAFE environment and have a commitment to ensuring best practices in training and assessment. You will possess a keen interest in imparting your industry knowledge to those eager to learn and expand their careers as carpenters through an apprenticeship model.

It is critical that you can create and foster close working relationships with all key staff within the team and be able to build strong relationships with students and employers. To do this they will be a good communicator, supportive, and have a 'can-do' attitude.

You’ll also have:

  • Experience working as a qualified Carpenter across varied building sites and projects
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification
  • CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent qualifications or have sufficient and current vocational competence that would allow for a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process to be completed
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and vehicle to travel to building sites
  • Hold an operational current working knowledge of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015 (RTO Standards) in relation to training and assessment activity
  • Ability to meet ASQA Fit & Proper person requirements and not be a disallowed person under New South Wales/Queensland funding contract obligations
