Banana Farm Inspector

Ferraro Farming is a Banana Farm situated in Tolga in Far North Queensland. They now seek an experienced Banana Farm Inspector to join their team to ensure top quality control of all the bananas they produce and distribute.
The Role
This is for a full time position at an annual salary set at $63,000.00 plus superannuation.
The Responsibilities
Consult and Coordinate with Farm Manager
Supervise Farm hands
Ensuring and enforcing compliance with government regulations and health and safety standards.
Checking and monitoring job progress to ensure crop health and growth:
Bell injecting, bagging
Stringing, deleafing, de-suckering
Fertilizing, spraying
Irrigation checking/ maintenance
Inspect bananas for pests and diseases, and report to the manager.
Quality control inspection of produce in the packing shed (PPS inspection)
Ensure that the produce fulfils client requirements for quality, size, and bloom.?
Inspection of the final product for quality, labels, consignment notes, and government regulations before to dispatch (Plant Health Certificate).
Determine the causes of nonconforming bananas and give recommendations for a corrective action plan.
Inspect packing shed equipment for good calibration, operation, and cleanliness.?
Ensure that routine maintenance is performed and that repairs are done as needed.
Organize, supervise, and train shed workers. Ensuring the OH&S obligation are implemented and adhered to.
Monitor employee rosters, hours, and performance, as well as reporting any employee grievances.
Implement food safety (Freshcare-HARPS), quality control procedures (ICA-06), quarantine (Panama control) and COVID safe compliance.
Consult and plan with manager to meet production targets and dispatch date.
Record keeping for quality control audit, OH&S and head office
The requirements
A Certificate IV or higher qualification is required focused?on?agricultural?education
At?least?1?years?of?relevant?work?experience
A candidate with Leadership abilities and ability to work well with others will be the right fit
The ability to prioritise workload and adapting to change in work requirements
Good interpersonal skills
Previous work in Banana farm will be preferred
