Your Role
Join our team as Base Manager Exmouth Defence Precinct, where you'll be at the heart of day-to-day base operations supporting Australia's national interests whilst living and working in the culturally and environmentally significant North West Cape of Western Australia.
As Base Manager, you will lead a small team responsible for a range of essential services that sustain Defence's living, working and training environments at:
- RAAF Base Learmonth
- Naval Communication Station Harold E Holt; and
- Associated sites on the North West Cape, Western Australia.
The team works in a challenging regional environment, however contributing to the stewardship of Defence estate adjacent to a World Heritage Area brings rewarding challenges and a great sense of purpose. It is an exciting role and environment where no two days are the same, but on a typical day as a Base Manager, you will:
- Engage with senior Defence stakeholders and manage support activities across various Defence sites.
- Work closely with industry partners focusing on compliance and review of service delivery standards.
- Ensure work practices and procedures are in accordance with Defence's mission and business objectives.
- Exercise your people management skills and knowledge in leading a high performing and cohesive team.
About our Team
The East & West Zone (EWZ) is a branch within Security & Estate Group that provides essential, on-the-ground services and support to the Australian Defence Force and Defence APS employees at locations across New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, South Australia and Western Australia.
You will be part of an executive management team responsible for Base Management, Estate Planning, Environmental Protection and Sustainability Awareness in Western Australia. This work is a critical business enabler of Defence capabilities, the long-term sustainability of the estate and ensuring Defence's compliance with legislative requirements.
Working in close collaboration with a Senior Australian Defence Force Officer you will have the authority to coordinate and administer whole-of-Base Support functions, including security, access control, WHS and emergency management planning.
