We have a new opportunity for a Beef Cattle Farmer at our Feedlot.
The Role: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Beef Cattle Farmer to join our team at the Chinchilla location. As a key member of our farming operations, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and productivity of our livestock.
As a Beef Cattle Farmer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Livestock Health and Well-being:
- Monitor and maintain the health and condition of cattle.
- Implement preventive measures to ensure optimal livestock well-being.
- Develop and execute feeding plans to maintain appropriate nutritional levels.
- Manage pastures and crops to support cattle nutrition.
- Move livestock according to feeding plans to maximize feeding opportunities.
- Ensure efficient utilization of resources.
- Monitor breeding processes for meat and milk production.
- Oversee calf raising and herd management.
- Direct and oversee day-to-day farming operations.
- Organize tasks such as catching, drenching, and milking livestock.
- Sterilize machinery and equipment.
- Maintain fences, equipment, and water supply systems.
- Keep accurate records of farming activities.
- Assist in organizing the sale, purchase, and transportation of cattle and produce.
- Monitor market activity and plan production accordingly.
- May be involved in selecting, training, and supervising staff and contractors.
- Conduct daily inspections and pre-start checks on fixed and mobile plant.
- Maintain records for water infrastructure using computers and other methods.
- Adhere to quality assurance practices and Workplace Health & Safety policies.
Who We Are Looking For:
- Cattle Experience: Previous experience working with cattle, including low stress stock handling techniques and familiar with breeding and raising practices.
- Water Infrastructure Skills: Experience maintaining and operating water infrastructure (e.g., pumps, poly pipelines, troughs).
- Communication and Attention to Detail: Good communication skills and high attention to detail.
- Adaptability: Capability to adopt and utilize company quality assurance practices and Workplace Health & Safety policies.
