PsychPhys is seeking an experienced Behaviour support Practitioners across two sites with positions available at our North West Melbourne locations.

Behaviour Support Practitioner:
The Behaviour Support Practitioner role is crucial in understanding the needs of the individuals. This multifaceted role is a combination of 1:1 support, assessments & plan writing, education and collaboration with team members & stakeholders. This role is located onsite and on occasion you will be required to visit individuals in the community.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with clients and deliver Initial Behaviour Assessments.
- Conduct risk assessments and initiate harm minimisation strategies and techniques, including suicide and violent risk referrals.
- Engage with individuals presenting with mild to moderate mental health conditions or complex presentations related to suspected or confirmed cognitive impairment.
- Support individuals with social and or high risk behaviours through Psychoeducation, 1:1 sessions or group based programs in conjunction with Exercise Physiologist and Psychologists.
- Provide Psychoeducation to Families, Carers and Individual stakeholders.
- Conduct Functional Behaviour Assessments for individuals and associated documentation.
- Initiate and or participate in Care Team Meetings for individuals.
- Develop Interim and Comprehensive Behaviour Support plans and formal documentation in line with the Positive Behaviour Support Capabilities and NDIS Quality and Safeguard commission regulations.
- Manage an independent caseload of individuals.
Candidate:
- Demonstrate the ability to deliver and communicate sensitive information with individuals inclusive of culture, age and cognition.
- Demonstrate organic and genuine rapport building with individuals and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication with particular emphasis on interpersonal communication skill.
- Demonstrate understanding of nonverbal communication and how to read these cues in individuals.
- Demonstrate experience in the provision of clinical, evidence-based assessment and interventions.
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and record-keeping.
- Demonstrate skill in working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competence in the use of information technology, internet, and desktop applications; e.g. electronic client record systems, Google Workspace and database packages.
- Demonstrate strong commitment to improving health outcomes in individuals.
- Understanding of emotional intelligence and the ability to adapt to the individual as required.
- Understanding of the biopsychosocial model of care.
- Understanding of the current mental health challenges in the community.
- Understanding of the Positive Behaviour Support Capability Frameworks, NDIS Quality and Safeguard Commission.
- Understanding of Restrictive Practices and code of ethics.
- Understanding of self managed time strategies when needed to work with minimal supervision.
- Enjoys health and fitness, and promotes benefits of healthy independent living.
- Enjoys working in a team environment and a collaborative approach to therapy.
- Enjoys making a positive impact in the community especially with individuals presenting with ASD.
Qualifications:
- A satisfactory Police Criminal Check dated within 6 months of commencement.
- A valid Employee Working with Children’s Check.
- A current Driver’s License
- Access to a vehicle for travel.
- A valid NDIS Worker Screening check.
- Full COVID-19 Vaccination.
- Experience working in community support services
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work - Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, other Allied Health profession or relative working experience.
