We have an opportunity for a highly driven engineer to join the team. The business is committed to advancing its' position within the FX and Fixed Income space through investment in technology and recruitment of high-calibre individuals to positively influence outcomes. A key part of that strategy is the development of Data Engineering capabilities and analytics capabilities to support regulatory compliance and other necessary tools to support these operations.
Working closely with Business Analysts, our engineers provide leading edge data solutions to monitor, analyse and drive Westpac Financial Markets business objectives, while ensuring Westpac's obligations from a Risk, Regulatory and Compliance perspective is met.
The successful candidate will participate in a data engineering team combining technical expertise across various big data platforms/technologies and will be expected to work closely with the business and other engineers and contribute to both system design and technical implementation within a Spark environment.
Please only apply if you have a strong background in big data and coding PySpark. It is also ideal to have a financial markets background but not a must.

What do I need?
- Strong Core Python development skills;
- Strong understanding of PySpark/ Spark technologies
- Strong understanding of cloud big data implementations/tools
- Well versed in Data Structures, complexity theory and CS fundamentals;
- Strong analytical and communication skills;
- Up to 3 years' experience in financial domain development as a data engineer;
- Highly motivated, and suitably equipped to work directly with sales/traders/quants;
- Financial Markets domain knowledge/experience around FX or Fixed Income;
- Masters or higher degree in a relevant field a distinct advantage;
- Experience using the Palantir Foundry platform.
