DutiesUnder the guidance of the Safe Farming Tasmania Steering Committee (SFTSC), and in direct consultation with the Safe Farming Tasmania Reference Group, (SFTRG), develop and deliver the Safe Farming Tasmania Program, including but not limited to:
- Encouraging and leading positive farm safety discussions in Tasmania’s farming communities by:
- Visiting Tasmanian farms, farming related businesses and farm communities to provide high level quality advice and guidance about dealing with farm safety issues.
- Promoting farm safety at rural gatherings (including presentations and displays in partnership with rural organisations and representative bodies), by attending these gatherings to encourage positive farm safety discussions and generally promote farm safety improvements.
- Presenting on farm safety issues and emerging trends at a local and national level at meetings of industry groups, and workers.
- Establishing positive and highly productive working relationships with stakeholders through extensive collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, Government Departments, industry and rural bodies, and the farming community, to maximise industry uptake and participation in the Program.
- Lead and develop team members, if assigned to the Program, by providing guidance, coaching, mentoring and support.
- Facilitating industry forums and promoting farm safety in various forms of media through established Departmental communications channels.
- Identifying, developing (in consultation with key stakeholders), and promoting resources designed to enhance improved safety outcomes.
- Coordinating the SFTRG, including liaising directly with the Chair, to seek strategic input into the Program’s activities, to identify further partnership opportunities and to encourage feedback and advice from member networks.
- Reporting to the SFTSC on the activities of the Program.
- The performance of these duties will involve some out of hours / weekend work, as well as extensive intrastate and occasional interstate travel.
- A current motor vehicle drivers’ licence
- High level of industry knowledge and experience in the agriculture sector
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in work health and safety
