What you'll be doing
The Biomedical Engineering Technical Officer (Electronics) will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Senior Technical Officer (Electronics) and will provide Clinical and Engineering support to the operations of the Hospital.
This role is to maintain medical devices in the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, through frontline support, repair, preventative maintenance, investigation of faults and user education.
This will involve liaising with Clinical Staff (operators), educators, equipment officers and Nurse Unit managers regarding equipment used by their units. It may involve provision of in-service education to clinical users as well.
A certificate III or higher from an Institute of TAFE such as:
- Associate Diploma in Electronics
- Advanced Diploma in Electronics
- Diploma in Electronics
- Electronics & Communications Certificate
- Demonstrated experience in the repair of equipment containing digital and analogue circuits.
- Demonstrated experience in the repair, maintenance and testing of medical equipment including electronic, electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
- Experience with patient monitoring techniques, devices & machines e.g. respiratory, intensive care or sleep studies.
- Demonstrated computer skills including the ability to use common word processing, presentation, spreadsheet and database tools.
- Demonstrated abilities in time management, problem solving and critical thinking.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Australian and international standards in the medical equipment area.
- Experience with Medical ICT systems.
