South East Local Land Services are looking for Biosecurity Support Officersto assist with the delivery of animal biosecurity and welfare, plant biosecurity, invasive species, and emergency response operational frontline, field service and regulatory activities across the region.
About the role
As aBiosecurity Support Officer, you will work directly with landholders, government agencies and other stakeholders to assist with the delivery of biosecurity programs and advisory services. You will demonstrate high-quality customer service outcomes while assisting in the rollout of on-ground projects relating to invasive species and animal health and welfare and play an important part in implementing priority field animal biosecurity activities.
This is a hands-on customer facing role with a large focus on field-based work and some office-based duties.
About You
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, takes initiative, has sound communication skills and is team player that’s comfortable working alone as there will be times you will be working unsupervised. Knowledge of farming operations, biosecurity issues and relevant legislation would be an advantage.
This is a great career opportunity and entry-level position for the right person to further develop their skills, knowledge and experience in landscape management biosecurity issues, invasive species management and animal biosecurity and welfare issues.
This is a role for someone who loves being in the field and working with people and animals, and to be successful you’ll need to have a current NSW Class C Driver License and the ability and willingness to travel (including overnight stays) as required.
Ideally, applicants should have some or all of the following qualifications, however, if not you will need to have the ability and willingness to obtain these as part of your employment in the role:
- Appropriate pesticide application qualifications (minimum AQF3 level)
- The capacity to hold a NSW firearms licence or equivalent, as well as obtain the Statement of Attainment - Use firearms to humanely destroy animals (AQF AHCVPT203A or AHCPMG304)
