Biotech Manufacturing Associate

The Opportunity
The CSL Biotechnology Manufacturing Facility is part of the CSL Behring Group. In this facility we use mammalian cells and DNA technology to manufacture biologics for clinical trials that will be used to treat life-threatening diseases.
In the Biotechnology Manufacturing Facility, we work in collaboration with Process Development, Quality, and other technical and business functions in order to ensure efficient and safe drug substance manufacturing processes for producing multiple recombinant proteins.
An exciting opportunity has become available for a BMF Manufacturing Associate to join the Upstream team in a permanent position. You will help achieve key manufacturing deliverables as agreed in the bulk manufacturing schedule and participate in various BMF project activities and collaborate with other functional groups involved in technical transfer of manufacturing processes to the BMF.
The Role
Reporting to the Upstream Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

• Execute routine activities for the manufacturing of recombinant protein Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) according to pre approved SOPs.
  
• Perform routine cell culture activities.
  
• Assist where required in the commissioning, validation and re-validation of equipment.
  
• Maintain cGxP compliance of Operations and the BMF
  
• Assist where required with the technology transfer of the new products from internal or external customers
  
• Ensure that all productions deviations are reported; help investigate critical deviations
  
• Ensure that production areas and equipment are clean and disinfected
  
• Participate in training and ensure that the cGxP training status is updated.
  

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Tertiary qualification in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemical/Process Engineering or Food Science Technology.
  
• Minimum 3 years of related work experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment.
  
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and equipment.
  
• Experience in a production environment performing aseptic manipulations including microbial or mammalian cell culture in flasks.
  

Highly regarded experience:

• Large-scale mammalian or microbial cell culture bioreactor experience (Stainless or Single Use)
  
• Experience performing midstream clarification.
