About Alkira Disability Services Ltd
Alkira Disability Services has been delivering support to people with intellectual disability for over 70 years in the Eastern region of Melbourne.
Alkira’s service philosophy is based on recognising, fostering and celebrating each person’s individuality, which in turn informs the way supports are provided to support their participation in community life with all the associated rights and responsibilities. Social justice and human rights principles of access and equity underpin our values and actions.
Alkira is a registered NDIS provider, delivering direct (1:1 and group) support, residential services, educational support, employment support and social enterprises (to name a few). All services are currently delivered from within Whitehorse area.
In late 2023, Alkira migrated to become a Company Limited by Guarantee. A new Chair was appointed, Peter Holdsworth, who has a focus on ensuring governance structures and capabilities are in place to realise the objectives outlined in the 2023-2026 Strategy, while also overseeing the management of risks and opportunities. As part of that work, new governance skills have been identified as needed for Alkira to be successful.
