The Role:
Excellent opportunity for an experienced Boilermaker to join our growing team in Garden Island. You will be responsible for providing extensive trade skills in the fabrication and welding area in support of the Marine business, in a multi resources team, throughout various environments.
Responsibilities:
Manufacture all types of steel work from drawings or samples in various types of metal including Carbon Steel, Aluminium and Stainless Steel.
Experience in all aspects of structural manufacture and Ship repair methods. Familiar with all welding processes, including, GMAW, GTAW and MMAW in all metal compositions Ferrous and Non Ferrous.
Familiar with all workshop equipment, machinery and operations.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and within a multi resources team.
Willingness to undertake multi skilled activities in all aspects of ship repair i.e, light and heavy fabrication, sheet metal and pipe fabrication.
Perform non-trade tasks incidental to the work.
Have worked within confined spaces or willing to undertake the appropriate training.
Provide feedback and information in the composing of JSEA’s and Risk Assessments.
Ability to monitor quality control procedures during welding process.
Skills/Experience Required:
Experience within ship building/repair industry preferable or alternatively other heavy engineering fields ie, Mining, Marine, Power Stations, Gas Lines or Bridges
Appropriate trade qualifications in Boilermaking Heavy Fabrication.
Familiar with marine practices, ship layout and technical interpretation.
Familiar with welding process’s MMAW, GTAW and GMAW.
Welding certificate would be advantageous.
EWP licence and other Workcover / Comcare certificates desirable i.e. basic rigging/dogging ticket, fork lift ticket etc.
Have the ability to work to and interpret structural drawings.
Familiar with general workshop machinery, welding equipment and their operation.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and within a multi-resources and discipline team.
Sound knowledge in commercial safety requirements and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
