Boilermaker / Welder

Baker & Provan is a large, family owned engineering company located in western Sydney and operating for over 77 years. Our team successfully complete small to heavy fabrication jobs, where the highly skilled welders and boilermakers are supported by a strong engineering team. Baker & Provan has a large workshop of 6500 m2 and multiple overhead cranes. Due to our continued growth, we are looking for experienced welders now.

About the Opportunity

We are currently recruiting trade-qualified Welders to meet our growth demands.

Your responsibilities in this role will include:

• Welding of metal products from plate from 3mm up to 50mm thick steel plates.
• Experience in handling heavy plates for welding with overhead cranes.
• Fabricate steel components for rail, mining and other heavy industries.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings for fabrication and welding.
• Undertake welding in accordance with welding procedures.
• Very good welding ability is essential.
• Ability to operate and set welding machine.
• Quality control checks on completion of welded parts.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will possess the following:

• Relevant trade qualifications for Welder or Metal Fabricator.
• At least 2 years work experience with proven track record in a similar role is a must.
• Ability to MIG and TIG weld.
• Ability to weld mild steel, stainless and aluminium.
• Extensive fabrication and/or welding experience.
• Skilled & experienced in a variety of welding processes.
• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to take direction.
• Ability to work well within a team, autonomously and unsupervised.
• Have a strong work ethic with a safety first mindset.
