Job Description

The Opportunity

Mattel Australia & New Zealand are seeking a proactive and team-oriented Brand Product Manager to join our Marketing team! This is a fixed term contract (Maternity Leave cover) role commencing in August 2024 for a period of 8 months. 

The right candidate for this role will have previous experience in a Brand and Product Manager role, have effective communication skills, attention to detail, and will be excited to join a purpose drive, fun (we sell toys!) and fast paced organisation where no two days are the same.

As a Brand Product Manager, you will be responsible for: 

  • Serve as the main liaison between Global Brand Team (GBT) and APAC markets, handling product and brand requests, and consolidating information.
  • Take ownership of the portfolio, driving reviews, presentations, and timelines
  • Increase annual sell-through rates.
  • Develop product ranges based on consumer, retailer, and competitor analysis, aligning with business targets.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Manager and Sales team to present product ranges to retailers.
  • Lead SKU management, including excess stock, consumption modelling, and lifecycle management.
  • Consult regional market teams to ensure range profitability and alignment with trends and sales strategies.
  • Analyse competitor activity to identify product and pricing opportunities.
  • Assist APAC in reaching GSV targets and create new opportunities with regional teams.
  • Review sales performance regularly, recommending adjustments as needed.
  • Plan and implement new product introductions in conjunction with Senior Marketing Manager
  • Lead portfolio discussions in sales regional review meetings, analysing forecasts and key performance indicators.
  • Manage communication of current year sell-through performance and forecasts
  • Analyse consumer research and data to identify market opportunities.
  • Liaise with global and regional Mattel offices on brand and product issues.
  • Stay updated on toy market trends and competitors' activities.
  • Inspire, engage, and influence others effectively.
  • Build future year range for portfolio growth, identifying market opportunities.
  • Provide advice and training on new products to Consumer Affairs and Sales staff.
  • Deliver regular product performance reports to the business.
  • Take ownership of outputs and timelines in line with business needs.
  • Regularly collaborate with Senior Marketing Manager and local teams.

Qualifications

Experience, knowledge and skills we think the right candidate will hold:

  • Tertiary qualified in Commerce, Marketing, Business Management, or other business-related disciplines.
  • Previous experience as a Brand or Product Manager (1-2 years). Experience in FMCG or consumer goods environment is preferable but not required.
  • Experience in range management, including pricing and forecasting.
  • Thorough understanding of standard marketing techniques including: financial / sales and marketing analysis, retail performance analysis, and promotions.
  • Experience working with retailers to execute commercially viable business plans.
  • Experience in briefing and working with external agencies on marketing campaigns.
  • Experience in managing budgets.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to utilise data for accurate analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to identify multiple solutions to complex problems and recommend the most effective course of action.
  • Well-developed planning and organizational skills – a disciplined and results orientated professional, you value follow through and take pride in delivering.
  • Standout communication skills – you will have the ability to inspire, engage and influence others to collaborate and achieve together.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast paced environment, dealing with multiple stakeholders and the capacity to keep a number of balls in the air. You will also be a self-starter who is motivated and able to work both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Team oriented, comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Able to travel overseas as required; must have valid unrestricted passport.
