AddressAPRA and the Reserve Bank of Australia have established the Brian Gray Scholarship program in memory of Brian Gray, who died on 24 August 2001 while serving as Executive General Manager of APRA’s Policy, Research and Consulting Division.
The Brian Gray Scholarship program will fund up to four scholarships annually, to the value of $15,000 each. The scholarship purpose is to support final year Honours and PhD students in finance, economics, commerce, actuarial science, econometrics, statistics, mathematics, data science, legal or related disciplines, who intend to focus full time on their studies and research. Recipients are students that are researching topics that relate to the work APRA or the RBA conduct. Such as the Banking, Insurance, Superannuation, financial stability or economic outlooks and impacts.
Under this Scholarship program, the recipients will devote a substantial amount of time to an agreed research topic and present their findings to APRA upon completion of their research. Scholarship holders may also be able to gain valuable work experience with APRA during their final year of study.

Graduate Program eligibility
You are welcome to apply to the APRA Graduate Program if you have:
- Australian citizenship (at the time of submitting this application). New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency NOT eligible.
- Completed your Bachelor degree prior to the end of 2024 (if applying for 2025) or 2025 (if applying for 2026)
- Completed an undergraduate degree in the past 4 years (i.e. 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024)
- Open to all qualification, with a number of graduates coming from disciplines across STEM, Economics, Econometrics, Commerce, Finance, Actuarial, Legal, Business, Arts, Accounting or Data Analytics.
- The ability to work from our Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne office
