Broccolini Product Inspector

Ellenton Pastoral is seeking suitably qualified & experienced Broccolini Product Inspector.

The role of a Broccolini product Inspector in the field is to ensure the following tasks are undertaken.

• Broccolini plants are harvested with no more than 1 yellow flower per stem.
• Stems are to have no visual defects both from insect damage and harvest damage.
• Stems to be free of pests specifically Aphids, diamondback moths, caterpillars, slugs.
• Ensure stems are free from disease such as black rot, bacterial soft rot. 
• Product from the field is to be quickly and cleanly harvested and sent back to the processing shed in a timely manner to ensure that temperature of the stems can be reduced as quickly as possible.
• Ensure tractors/trucks forklifts working in the field are in good working order and there are no oil leaks
• Check that employees picking in the field understand what the client’s standards are and that they are working safely and efficiently with adequate breaks and fatigue is properly managed.
• Communicate with the packing shed with forecasting expected quantities of picked bunches on a regular basis.
• Manage the picking of each block of plants to ensure the plants are picked at that optimum time and there is minimal waste. 
• Monitor irrigation to ensure the plants are always adequately watered.
