We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives.We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified Registered Nurses who are looking for an exciting career opportunity within the Blood Transplant & Cellular Therapies (BTCT) team, in the Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) grade 2, BTCT Coordinator position at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.This is a part time, temporary contract, working 14hours per week in a job share capacity.The BTCT Coordinator CNC2 will work collaboratively with the BTCT team, supported by the wider senior oncology nursing and allied teams.The BTCT team at CHW provides complex care for patients and families referred for malignant and non-malignant diseases.
The BTCT Coordinator CNC2 will facilitate the coordination of transplant workup, donor search and donor related quality requirements to expedite the patient journey toward transplant.This role will include in collaboration with other team members the coordination and supervision of stem cell collection and stem cell infusion as required.
This position will have an active role in the nursing support, development and implementation of future advanced therapy models for both malignant and non-malignant applications.
Knowledge and development of clinical protocols will be based on guidelines from international bodies that regulate stem cell transplantation.
The CNC2 will provide expert clinical advice to patients, their family and carers and provide leadership in developing and evaluating clinical management plans based on evidence and research.
Quality management will be integral in the planning, management and evaluation of the service.What you'll be doingThe Clinical Nurse / Midwife Consultant ( CNC/CMC) will provide expert clinical care and education to children and their families within a defined specialty.The role provides a consultancy and educational focus for ward based nurses in the care of children and their families.In collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders, the CNC/CMC will undertake primary responsibility for on-going education, development and evaluation of clinical practice.Additional information:An eligibility list may be created for future temporary part time vacanciesCurrent Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a minimum of 5 years full time post qualification experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field.Relevant approved post registration qualification in field of practice at Master’s level or working towards or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisationProven clinical leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practiceDemonstrated high level communication and inter- personal skillsProven ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the utilisation of evidence based researchDemonstrated skills in strategic and clinical service planning and including an understanding of organisational behaviour, change management and cultural changes processesDemonstrated competency in the use of contemporary information systems and clinical teaching and development of specialty education programsDemonstrated provision of a child and family centred consultancy with the ability to work independentlySCHN is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values diversity - we acknowledge the vibrancy that a diverse workforce brings to enhance both our workplace culture and our service delivery to children, young people and their families and carers.
