As a Building Surveyor team member you will assist in the provision of a customer focused, professional Building Surveying Service to our community.
Undergraduate Building Surveyor/Cadet Building Inspector Criteria
To be considered eligible for this position:
- An applicant must not have 50% or more of the identified qualification or a similar or a higher industry qualification completed.
- Completion of Year 12 Higher School Certificate or equivalent
- Class C (standard) Driver's Licence or Provisional Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)
- Ability to enrol and complete required Qualification
- Meet the criteria to be able to be registered by NSW Fair Trading as a Building Surveyor - Restricted Class 1-10
Building Inspector Criteria
- Qualifications in Building Surveying or related discipline and/or relevant demonstrated Building experience
- Accredited as a Registered Certifier - Building Inspector by the NSW Department of Fair Trading
- Extensive knowledge of the National Construction Code and associated standards
- Extensive customer service skills
- Class C (standard) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)
Building Surveyor / Senior Building Surveyor Criteria
- Degree or Advanced Diploma in Building Surveying or related discipline and/or relevant demonstrated Building Surveying experience
- Accredited as a Registered Certifier - Building Surveyor-Unrestricted/ Restricted by the NSW Department of Fair Trading
- Extensive knowledge of the National Construction Code and associated standards
- Extensive customer service skills
- Class C (standard) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)
- Demonstrated supervisory experience (for Senior Position)
Tasks & Responsibilities varied depending on role
- Assess Development Applications for Class 1a and Class 10 domestic construction.
- Process Construction Certificate applications.
- Carry out critical stage inspections of Class 1a and Class 10 domestic construction.
- Process applications and certificates such as Solid Fuel Heater, Building Information Certificates, and plumbing approvals.
- Undertake inspections as directed regarding Section 68 plumbing approvals for sewer, water and drainage works.
- Exercise the role of Certifying Authority and Principal Certifying Authority on behalf of Council under the provisions of the associated legislation
- Assess and determine applications for Part 6 Building and Subdivision Certification Applications.
- Carry out critical stage inspections of all classes of buildings and structures.
