The acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines is an historic and transformative endeavour for Australia. The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver the cutting edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia’s economic and national security landscape for decades to come.
- Assist in the establishment and management of SSPD budgets including investigation and analysis of data and provision of performance information to stakeholders;
- Supervise staff including oversight of team activities which includes setting tasks and priorities, managing work flow and allocating resources.
- Management and oversight of cost performance reporting ensuring accurate and timely information is produced to inform stakeholders of the SSPD financial position;
- Provide the costing rationale for procurement and contract proposals by investigating and evaluating financial data to produce recommendations that align to approved funding sources and comply with relevant ASA policies and SSPD processes;
- Oversight of assurance activities to ensure invoice claims are accurate and compliant with contracts, laws, financial regulations and align with relevant Agency policies;
- Oversight of the development and administration of applicable Business Work Plans, Instructions and Processes relating to the financial and cost performance aspects for SSPD.
About our Team
The Business Cost Manager will be required to work in a complex operating environment as part of the SSPD Branch, which is located in Adelaide. The routine business activities that the role will undertake includes analysis of reports and briefs, oversight of the cost and financial aspects of complex and simple procurement as well as provide assurance of overall costs and business transactions.
The position will collaborate with an array of internal and external partners in order to secure financial and costing information for the Submarine Build Phase, including shipbuilders, private sector contractors, staff across Divisions within ASA, Navy and Defence. The position is an integral part of the Business Operations Team and is accountable to the Business and Operations Director which supports the Assistant Director General SSPD.
