Job description

We're seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as an Entry Level Business Development Officer. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone looking to transition into a Business Development role. This position is based in Hobart, Tasmania.

Position Purpose: The Business Development Officer is responsible for supporting the identification and creation of opportunities to enhance organisational growth and revenue streams. As an integral part of our growing organisation, you'll play a key role in identifying new business opportunities and fostering relationships to drive growth.

As team leader your responsibilities are to:

Main Tasks:

  • Market Analysis Support:

Conduct market research to identify potential growth areas and trends within the NDIS and community services sector.

Provide support in analysing market dynamics, marketing strategies competitor activity.

  • Grant and Program Exploration:

Stay informed about available grants and specialist programs, assessing their suitability for the organisation.

Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to prepare and submit grant applications, ensuring compliance with eligibility criteria and deadlines.

  • Administrative Support:

Support the preparation of proposals for new programs and services.

Assist in budgeting and financial planning activities across the organisation.

  • Stakeholder Engagement Assistance:

Collaborate with team members to cultivate and maintain relationships with stakeholders.

Participate in relevant industry events and networking opportunities.

  • Project Coordination:

Coordinate projects related to Business Development.

Contribute to the implementation of new programs in conjunction with Service Delivery Teams.

  • Other Duties:

Assist in fulfilling other duties as required by management and other department personnel.

Selection Criteria

  1. Relevant diploma or bachelor’s degree or relevant ongoing studies.
  2. Experience and exposure to Business Development or a related field is desirable.
  3. Basic understanding of the NDIS and Community Servies sector and relevant legislation.
  4. Ability to practice a person-centered approach
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills especially your ability to listen, interpret and act on what people want and need in a timely manner
  6. High level organisational, time management and task management, dealing with competing priorities and tight deadlines
  7. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to find a way and bring people together to achieve outcomes for participants
  8. Ability to work with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and circumstances in a respectful manner
  9. Competency in using Office 365 including Outlook, Word, Excel and Client Management Systems.


The successful applicant will also hold and maintain the following:

  1. Full Australian Driver’s License
  2. Working with Vulnerable People
  3. Current National Police Check
  4. Current First Aid Certificate/CPR
  5. NDIS Workers Orientation Module (or ability or obtain)
