Job Summary:

The Business Process Engineer will bring Lean and Six Sigma Process Engineering principles to design and/or optimize Business Processes and improve their overall performance. This position partners extensively with cross-functional teams and leadership, in the application of Process Engineering principles to design and/or optimize Business Processes and their overall performance. As a member of the Strategic Initiatives Office team, the Process Engineer will manage multiple initiatives of significant scope and complexity, crossing multiple disciplines, management and functional areas.

Key Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Contributes/delivers process improvement projects that deliver measurable cost savings, improved quality, increased revenue and growth, productivity, risk avoidance, or overall performance results.
  • Evaluate current Business Processes and recommend solutions for improvements.
  • Support the development of business cases through analytics
  • Identifies and defines initiatives for continuous Business Process improvements.
  • Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and reported on.
  • Analyzes processes to identify areas of improvement, root cause analysis, and provide appropriate analytics to facilitate business effort prioritization.
  • Synthesizes analysis, identifies root causes and develops and recommends key work products.
  • Utilizes knowledge of customers, products, Business Processes and functions expertise to analyze business problems and determine the best methodology to resolve defects or issues.
  • Conducts complex statistical analysis to demonstrate process performance, takt time and yields
  • Serves as a coach and mentor to less experienced team members
  • Develops and communicates results and recommendation packages for management review.
  • Provides subject matter expertise and operational support to internal business partners.
  • Project manage multiple assignments and initiatives
  • Analyzes business needs, documents requirements, and translates needs into functional, non-functional specifications.
  • Assess potential projects for viability and provide recommendations to leadership for prioritization.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 5+ years process improvement and/or business experience around process management
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated use of statistics, LEAN Six Sigma, data analysis, and industry tools (SIPOC, VOC, Process Mapping, Process Requirements), and Process Engineering methodologies
  • Experience writing detailed requirements of user needs, business impacts, and system functionality that are actionable, definable, relevant, measureable, and testable

Education Preferred:

  • MBA, MHA or Master's in a related field

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years managing large-scale projects in a cross-functional environment

Experience Preferred/Desirable:

  • Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, Health plan, or managed care
  • Management consulting, strategy or similar background
  • BPM certification

Required Licensure, Certification or Conditions of Employment:

  • LEAN/Six Sigma Black Belt certification

  • Ability to execute initiatives and programs effectively through change management, engagement of staff, and training

  • Comprehension and appreciation of the complexities inherent in an organization and of its corresponding corporate culture.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to interact within all levels of the organization.
