Business Services Accountant - Punchbowl/Parramatta

Job Title: Business Services Accountant

Job Summary:

Khourys & Associates, a leading accounting firm in Parramatta, Liverpool & Punchbowl, New South Wales, is seeking a positive and motivated Business Services Accountant to join our team working in Punchbowl 3 days and Parramatta 2 days per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and preparing tax returns and financials for small to medium-sized businesses, providing advice on taxation planning and management of accounts, reviewing and analysing financial statements, and liaising with clients and external agencies. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical knowledge of accounting and taxation, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities:

- Manage and prepare tax returns & financials for small to medium-sized businesses

- Review and analyse financial statements & business structures

- Provide advice on taxation planning and management of accounts

- Review, analyse & complete Business Activity Statement

- Report directly to the associate on performance, budgets & client matters

- Assist the associate with preparation of technical tax compliance audits

- Liaise with Clients, ATO (Australian Taxation Office), ASIC (Australian Securities & Investments Commission), Long Service Board, and other external agencies

- Ensure completion of all tasks according to accounting standards and internal policies & procedures

Qualifications:

- Accounting degree required

- Commencement or completion of CA (Chartered Accountant) qualification preferred

- Minimum 2 years' experience in public practice including experience in SMSFs (Self Managed Superannuation Funds)

- Sound knowledge of XERO, MYOB and Handisoft software systems
