The Role
This role is responsible for acting as System Designer/Engineer for C4I systems (Communication, Navigation and Combat Management Systems), Engineering in Project Organisations and to support the production liaison organisation and the Subcontractors/Shipbuilder's organisations.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical authority with special respect to Australian Shipbuilder specific adaption and further development of basic documentation provided by the Design Team
- Support with design-/production-related knowledge the transfer between Luerssen Technical Departments and the Australian Subcontractors/Shipbuilders
- Report to the C4I Design Team Lead and project related report to the relevant C4I Project Engineer.
- Inter-discipline collaboration and inter-project teamwork to manage interfaces and overlapping tasks with all relevant stakeholders.
- Responsible for the execution of the Australian-specific adaption of the related engineering scope
- Provide short-term clarification of questions from relating design departments.
- Communicate with the JIRA C4I action tacker and TQ system.
- Give production-related technical advice in liaise with production liaison engineer.
- Manage the change management process (BUF, ECP) regarding all items within the related engineering scope.
- Support the C4I Project Engineer in implementation of design and equipment installation.
- Particular attention must be paid to the C4I systems and their specific subcontractors.
Requirements
- A relevant engineering or technology qualification (essential)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the Defence industry and 2 years in a technical role within a complex project
- Knowledge and understanding across all requirements in similar size naval vessels to the OPV
- Experience in weapon system integration and commissioning
- Basic knowledge of combat management systems
- Basic knowledge of navigation systems and tactical communication systems
- Knowledge in processes of systems engineering (e.g. ISO 12207 / 15288)
- Experience in realisation of systems according to military standards
- Demonstrated experience regarding the design of complex systems and experience in contract management
- Efficient interaction with production regarding shipbuilding processes and integration of systems on board
- Demonstrated capability in the coordination of Commonwealth contact within a project environment
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Office 365
- Proven ability to self-organise, prioritise and work to deadlines
- High level of attention to detail
