In the role of Cadet (GIS Officer), you will utilise your technical skill and knowledge to assist in the delivery of geospatial products and services to assist the Department in planning, designing, constructing and managing its road network.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Under Supervision:
o Acquire, process, interpret, present, maintain and validate geospatial information and databases.
o Assemble, analyse, interpret and report on spatial data from appropriate systems, providing information through high quality mapping products or reports as required by the client.
o Operate departmental Geographic Information System (GIS) software and support departmental users of GIS technology.
o Provide specialist mapping and GIS services.
o Assist with survey or spatial related activities when required.
o Assist with the delivery of geospatial projects, products and services (group training) to meet departmental requirements.
o Develop a sound knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
- Attend all required classes (including lectures, tutorials and practicals) and pass and successfully complete all examinations and assessments required to obtain your qualification, as described under 'mandatory requirements'.

Mandatory Requirements
- Cadets are required to be studying or enrolled in:
- Associate Degree of Spatial Science - major Geographic Information System, or
- Bachelor of Spatial Science Technology - major Geographic Information Systems, or
- Bachelor of Spatial Science (Honours) - major Geographic Information Systems or
- Or suitable equivalent qualification as determined by the delegate.
Desirable Requirements
- Valid Queensland 'C' Class driver's licence or equivalent may be required.
