QinetiQ are now accepting applications for this key strategic role based in Canberra within the Growth Function of our Australian Sector, with sites in the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, and across Australia.

As the Campaign Director - Capability Assurance, you will be responsible to identify and pursue strategic opportunities across the Defence market, with an emphasis on Test and Evaluation (T&E).

Reporting to the Sector Chief Growth Officer, you'll lead the shaping and execution of the Sector Capability Assurance Campaign to drive significant growth over a rolling five-year strategic planning horizon.

As Campaign DirectorCapability Assurance you will be accountable to:

  • Lead the development of the Campaign business winning strategy, including subordinate documents and business winning proposals following the Shipley process.
  • Maintain the Campaign strategy and subordinate documents to ensure relevance to the market and alignment with input from the QinetiQ C-Suite, and Global leaders.
  • Lead the Capability Assurance team to significantly increase and grow the sector pipeline, improve the win rate, and secure new business meeting QinetiQ’s risk appetite and profitability objectives.
  • Collaborate across a geographically dispersed, matrixed, and cross-functional team to shape and win new business within the Australian Sector in alignment with QinetiQ’s global strategy.
  • Work alongside the Commercial Director to enhance profitability through innovative commercial strategies, including competitive intelligence gathering for new business prospects, competitors, and potential partners.
  • Lead the Australian Sector Capability Assurance community, providing strategic direction to Business Winning and Delivery managers to ensure coherence in identifying, qualifying, developing, pursuing, and delivering opportunities.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of responses to initial customer inquiries, such as Requests for Information and Invitations to Register Interest.
  • Establish and nurture senior-level relationships with key customers and industry stakeholders, while supporting strategic engagement plans with Government and Agency leaders in alignment with the overall strategy.
  • Represent the company and lead engagements in forums like trade shows, industry events, and customer engagement activities, including interactions with senior Government and Defence officials.
  • Develop in-country relationships and formulate go-to-market plans in collaboration with relevant functions (marketing, commercial, finance), offering insights into Defence customer/end-user needs to guide product development and marketing activities.
  • Execute external engagements with Defence and industry stakeholders, including preparation of briefing materials and support for internal post-meeting reporting/actions. Act as the Thought Leader on campaign matters at national-level events, delivering presentations.
  • Serve as the company's representative and lead participation in forums such as trade shows, industry events, and customer engagement activities, while leading interactions with senior Government and Defence officials. 

To be successful in the role of Campaign DirectorCapability Assurance you will need to bring with you:

  • A Degree in business or a technical field related to the campaign
  • Experience of leading virtual teams across a large organisation
  • Demonstrated experience of sales pipeline development, proposition development, sales pursuit and closure internationally
  • Previous demonstrable experience in a sales/account management role at a senior level with a proven track record of being able to influence at all levels
  • Excellent understanding of, and ability to, apply sales concepts, tools, and principles while engaging with customers for excellent results
  • Previous track record of being part of a team negotiating complex commercial contracts at a senior level both internally and externally
  • Ability to present and engage at highest levels of Government and company boards
  • An effective leadership style that fosters cross-functional and cross-business unit collaboration
  • Self-motivation and the ability to drive the ‘Business Winning’ process
  • Detailed knowledge of capabilities, skills and products offered at a company-wide level

Candidates will need to hold an NV1 Australian Government Security Clearance.
