About the National Messaging System
The NMS is an effective and reliable telephony-based messaging system that provides communities the ability to act quickly and decisively in times of emergency, disaster, and crisis, allowing critical messages, alerts, and warnings to be sent and received by at risk communities. The NMS will help safeguard against the loss of life, injury, and damage to property, reducing the spread of misinformation during a variety of unpredictable threats and disasters.
The OpportunityJoining the Media and Communications section will give you the security of a 12-month non-ongoing contract or s26 transfer permanently or temporarily. In this diverse role, you will take part in communicating the National Messaging System through a public awareness campaign, while supporting the development of communications strategies, liaising with stakeholders, and developing key messaging and content.

- Develop and implement communications and campaign strategies
- Contract manage and lead the campaign suppliers including creative, cultural diversity, and public relations agencies
- Manage media planning with the media agency, including analysis of channels, scheduling, purchasing, and approvals
- Prepare submissions for campaign approval by Executive, Ministers and government committees
- Develop clear, concise and audience-centric content for a range of channels including websites, social media, electronic newsletters, stakeholder communication and advertising materials
You will have a Degree or Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing and/or experience delivering state or federal government campaigns at the EL1 Assistant Director level.
You will also have the following skills/capabilities:- Demonstrated experience mentoring/managing junior staff
- High-quality communication skills, with strong writing, editing, and content creation skills
- Proven experience developing and implementing communication plans and strategies
- Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to anticipate and prioritise deadlines and timeframes
- Prior experience delivering a federal or state government campaign is highly desirable
- 12-month non-ongoing contract or S26 permanent or temporary transfer
- EL1: $112,822 – $128,586 + 15.4% super
- Flexibility to work from home up to two days per week
- Location: Brisbane
