The Canberra Basketball Coordinator is responsible the coordination of programs which focus on developing foundation technical skills and basic game play concepts of basketball, building players physical literacy through fundamental movement skills, promoting fun, learning how to train and developing appropriate training habits.
This is a part time ongoing role, 20-25 hours per week.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Day-to-day oversight of the Basketball ACT Under 12 and Under 14 representative programs.
- Deliver the objectives and outcomes of the Canberra Basketball Development Plan.
- Collaborate with the appointed external provider to deliver the Basketball ACT Development Futures Program.
- Organise and conduct an annual athlete selection process for the required Canberra Basketball programs in accordance with the Athlete Selection Policy.
- Administrative support to coach recruitment and coach development initiatives.
- Collaborate within the Performance and Coaching Department to manage program logistics including scheduling training and booking venues, as well as accommodation and ground transport for identified team travel competitions.
- Lead communication between Basketball ACT, program staff, parents and players, including monitoring issues that may arise from time to time.
- Implement and enforce relevant policies governing Basketball ACT’s programs, regarding children’s participation.
- Provide regular reports to Basketball ACT management on program outcomes.
