Canteen & Bar Assistant

Hockey Queensland has a number of casual positions in the State Hockey Centre Bar and Canteen and would like to invite you to be part of our winning culture and provide a service to the Local Brisbane and wider Southeast Queensland sports community that’s second to none. 

Details:

Shifts:  Shifts will range from Fridays 5pm-10pm, Saturdays 7am-8pm, Sundays 10am-8pm from February to November including the occasional mid-week shift.

Pay Rate: In accordance with the Amusements, Events and Recreation Award ranging from $20.47 - $31.09 for standard hours, Sunday and Public Holiday rates apply.

Position Purpose

The Canteen assistant provides support for the State Hockey Centre Bar and Canteen operations. The position requires a hands on team player who is willing to lead by example and support a busy food and beverage operation. The Assistant will be required to prepare basic food, tend to the service counter and provide customer service. Training relevant to the position will be provided on the job.

Qualifications & experience.

Position Responsibilities

• Maintain a high standard of food services in accordance with Food Safety Legislation and Food Services Procedures
• Preparation of meals such as sandwiches and burgers
• Attend the counter, take orders and payment 
• Provide customer service
• Prepare and serve barista style coffee 
• Attend the bar when required 
• Cleaning and sanitizing of meal trays, cutlery, crockery and trolleys
• Preparation of work stations including assembly of items and stocking of consumables
• Reconcile tills at the end of a shift
• Operate the Square system 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

• Must be able to work weekends and some evenings. 
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or ability to obtain one)
• Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (or ability to obtain one)
• Previous experience in a similar position
• Previous experience in cash handling and end of day reconciliation
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Enjoy Customer service and working in a team environment 
• Queensland Blue Card – Working With Children 
• Ability to work well in a small team environment
• High attention to detail

Desirable

• Hospitality Industry Qualifications
• Driver’s License
• Experience operating a deep fryer and commercial oven
• Experience operating a barista coffee machine
