Canteen Convenor and Assistants

Are you passionate about providing nutritious meals to students in a dynamic educational environment? We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to oversee and assist in running our College canteen as a Canteen Convenor and Canteen Assistants. 

As the Canteen Convenor, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations, from preparing lunches to managing online orders and inventory. Your friendly demeanour will shine as you assist students with their orders and address any concerns with parents, all while fostering strong relationships with College staff. Management experience in catering will be an advantage for this position.

Our Canteen Assistants also play a crucial role in supporting the efficient operation through assisting in the preparation, serving, and clean-up of food in accordance with health and safety standards. 

It is essential for the successful applicants to have experience in food handling and preparation. The right people will demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and foster positive relationships with students, staff and the wider College community.

Responsibilities

Working in the Canteen, you will be responsible for

• Food preparation, cooking and serving to both students and staff
• Providing friendly and respectful customer service
• Taking orders, both online and over the counter
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Cash handling and eftpos transactions and maintaining accurate records
• Helping with inventory management and stock rotation
• Supporting school events during the year

In addition, ourCanteen Convenor is responsible for

• Managing canteen staff and volunteers
• Preparing rosters
• Coordinating nutritional and healthy food for students, staff and College customers
• Stock control and ordering
• Managing canteen functions within budget
• Maintaining canteen equipment and facilities

Essential Skills, Experience and Licences

• A current Queensland working with children check (Paid Blue Card) or ability to get one 
• Exceptional customer service, clear communication and organisational skills
• Ability to demonstrate initiative and work unsupervised
• Experience in cash handling and eftpos transactions

Additionally forour Canteen Convenor

• Experience with financial software, reporting and end of day reconciliation
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or ability to obtain one)
• Current First Aid Certificate (or ability to obtain one) 

Canteen Manager position details

• Permanent full time hours during term time only
• Five days a week, Monday to Friday 
• 7:00am to 3:00pm 

Canteen Assistant position details

• Permanent part time term time only
• 7:30am to 12:00pm Monday to Friday 
• Casual roles also available
