The role
CBCity has an opportunity for a clear communicator with road infrastructure experience to become an integral member of our Roads Operations unit as a Public Domain Officer.
The Public Domain and Works Team resolve customer needs in relation to civil works associated with property development, public utility works and general enquiries within the Public Domain.
In this role, you will carry out inspections for Public Domain approved permits such as vehicular footway crossing and foot paving construction, stormwater construction and connections to Council's system, road pavement and kerb and gutter construction, road opening and Council asset restorations, CBD landscaping and related civil works for developments in the footway or road reserve.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Carry out inspections for Public Domain approved permits.
- Support the administration of utility authority restoration applications including Land Activity Notices and inspections.
- Liaise with applicants, builders, developers, private certifiers, ratepayers, Public Utility Authorities and Government agencies.
- Investigate and respond to customer requests, and where applicable, make recommendations to the Team Leader for consideration and possible inclusion in the Rolling Capital Works Program.
- Report on the safety, function, quality and amenity of Council’s services, assets and public spaces and where necessary request maintenance work to be carried out.
- Assist with the annual review of Council’s Fees & Charges as required.

You will have:
- Relevant Technical or Trade Qualifications.
- Class C drivers’ licence and a WHS Construction White Card.
- Previous experience using Microsoft Office applications.
- Proven experience in the construction and restoration of Council infrastructure such as roads and drainage.
- Ability to identify asset defects and appropriate solutions including a working knowledge of factors affecting asset condition, preventative measures and remedial treatments.
- Experience in concrete construction such as vehicular crossings, foot paving, kerb and gutter and drainage structures.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $72,474 (Grade E, Step 1) + Car Allowance + 11% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
