The role

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Policy Research and Development Team as a Senior Policy Adviser. If you like a challenge, enjoy thinking outside the box and are passionate about all things policy …then this job is for you!

Reporting to the Team Leader Policy Research and Development, the Senior Policy Adviser will play an important role in coordinating and facilitating key parts of the policy process, as well as undertaking research and advocacy. You will contribute to the development of key policy documents and projects, and work with stakeholders at all levels across the organisation.   

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide high level policy advice to the Executive Leadership Team, Senior Management Team, and other leaders.
  • Manage and contribute to the development, delivery and implementation of policy projects and policy related documents.
  • Research and analyse policy issues and contribute to advice, solutions, proposals and recommendations.
  • Liaise, coordinate and collaborate with team members and leaders.
  • Translate complex material into easy to understand language.
  • Prepare submissions, reports, briefing notes, correspondence, presentations and other forms of written communication relevant to Council’s policy position.

You will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent professional experience in policy or government relations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, developing, and implementing projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with demonstrated experience engaging, collaborating and influencing key stakeholders to achieve optimal organisational outcomes. 
  • Highly developed analytical skills including the ability to analyse and interpret complex information from numerous sources, prepare and present analysis and reports, and deal with challenges creatively.
  • Proven capacity to develop and implement complex strategic initiatives, including the capability to plan, manage change, improve performance and project manage.

 

The salary range for this opportunity starts at $108,201 (Grade I, Step 1) + 11% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
