About the position:
The Transition to Work employment service helps young people aged 15-24 into work (including apprenticeships and training) or education. Transition to Work participants receive intensive, pre-employment support to develop practical skills to get a job, connect with education or training, find local job opportunities, and connect with relevant local community services.
We have two full time roles based out of our Albany and Northam offices. Getting out and about, networking and advocation in the community will be critical in this position. This is a hands-on role, engaging and supporting young people in meaningful activities and/or employment in their community or further afield.
Primary accountability:
- Assess each person’s job-related skills, strengths, preferences and gaps through interview, discussion and testing using proven assessment tools.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including employers, eligible participants and education providers.
- Develop an individualised plan, provide advice and support including employment and education options.

- You have exceptional and innovative problem-solving skills – you like to think outside the box.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills (including building rapport, listening, and interviewing), and the ability to research and write clear training and employment plans.
- You understand the local labour market and regional skills shortages.
- You utilise your professionalism and finely-honed customer service skills when providing support to our customers.
- You are proficient in computer applications, including Windows and MS office suite.
- You hold a current driver’s license and are willing to undertake a satisfactory Police Check and Working with Children Card as a pre-condition of employment.
