Career Medical Officer in Emergency Medicine
Manning Base Hospital, Taree NSW.

Candidates must have:
- General Registration with AHPRA
- At least 3 years post-graduate experience and appropriate training and experience in Emergency Medicine
- Ideally working towards or have completed a specialist fellowship (FACCRM/FRACGP or ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate or Diploma).
About the role:
Provision of a consistent generalist medical service to patients of Manning Base Hospital, working under the direction of the Emergency Physician in the coordination of clinical management of patients consistent with the plans of the Emergency Physician and Admitting Medical Officer and improvement in the continuity of care within Manning Base Hospital and between the hospital and community.
We see approximately 33,000 attendances per annum with an admission rate of approximately 30-35% and a 20% paediatric case load. The department manage a very much above average acutely ill patient load, with our Triage Category 2 patients being in the region of 17%.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases - this is a Category A position. Please read and understand NSW Health policy directive (PD2022_0Perp30). All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in the policy.
- Current General Registration with AHPRA with at least three years post-graduate experience and appropriate training and experience in Emergency Medicine.
- High level skills and involvement in clinical care, supervision, mentoring and teaching. Able to exercise a moderate degree of professional independence.
- Ideally working towards or completed a specialist fellowship such as ACCRM or FRACGP or ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate or Diploma.
- Demonstrated competence in management of undifferentiated Adult and Paediatric emergencies.
- Demonstrated skills in and commitment to improvements in clinical care, patient safety and risk management processes, including the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams to achieve change.
- High level interpersonal communication and team skills, effective for working within health care organisations and the outside community, including capacity to use electronic communications (e.g. electronic records) effectively.
- Evidence of participation in continuing professional development.
- Demonstrated commitment to the broader service objectives of the public health system, including the effective utilisation of resources, and participation in activities beyond direct patient care.
