Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in New South Wales for the above position within the Department of Vascular Surgery, Gosford and Wyong Hospitals, Central Coast Local Health District CCLHD.
Applicants should be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and / or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Visiting Medical Officer Determination.
Central Coast is comprised of the twin areas of Gosford and Wyong, positioned between Sydney and Newcastle, which are collectively expected to grow from the current approximate 300,000 to 450,000 population before 2030. The Local Health District has strong connections with both Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Newcastle.
Applicants should ideally be a current member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery ( ANZSVS)
To maintain accreditation requirements as a vascular surgical training post of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons:
1. FRACS applicants must possess and produce at interview a current Certificate of Participation in the Australasian Vascular Audit ( interim Certificates for recently qualified FRACS will be acceptable)
2. Non FRACS applicants must commit to participation in the ANZSVS’s Australasian Vascular Audit (AVA) if successful.
For on call purposes the position is primarily a Wyong Hospital appointment with access to the Gosford hospital hybrid theatre.
Elective theatre sessions: For the remainder of this quinquennium the successful applicant will have 9 operating sessions per 8 week rotation (5 at Wyong Hospital and 4 at Gosford hospital).
On – Call Duties: The successful applicant will cover on-call between 6 AM and 6 PM Monday to Friday at Wyong Hospital for 5 weeks per 8 week rotation. During 2 of those 5 weeks (spaced as 1 in 4) the successful applicant will also cover both Wyong and Gosford hospitals: 6 PM to 6 AM Monday to Friday and the corresponding weekends (Saturday 6 AM to Monday 6 AM).
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Visiting Medical Officer Determination.
This position has obligations to both Gosford Hospital under Sessional arrangements and Wyong Hospital under Fee For Service arrangements.
