About CatholicCare NT and the Program
CatholicCare NT is a Catholic social service agency established in the Diocese of Darwin. We provide services throughout the NT, including service centres in Darwin, Palmerston, Malak, Tiwi Islands, Daly River, Wadeye, Jabiru, Maningrida, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Santa Teresa, Titjikala, Finke and APY lands.
The Malak Family Centre is a welcoming, accessible, supportive and engaging environment that is responsive to all children and their families.
Two early intervention and preventative programs to support children, young people and families are on offer:
Children and Parenting
Intended program outcomes include:
- increasing the wellbeing of children 0-12 years through learning and play
- increasing parenting knowledge and skills
- increasing parent child secure attachment
Community Mental Health
Intended program outcomes include:
- increasing the wellbeing of children and young people from 0-18 y/o who are at risk of developing mental health issues
- stronger communities
- increased knowledge and skills regarding mental health
About the role
The Case Worker is responsible for providing assertive case management, education and support to participants in order for the program to meet its objectives. This position has a particular focus on working with families and the wider community to ensure that children and young people experience safety, play, more secure attachment and increased confidence, mental health and wellbeing.
What we are looking for
- Relevant qualification in Education, Early Childhood, Mental Health Nursing, Community Primary Health Nursing or equivalent and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in planning, evaluating and delivery of children's play based programs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including counselling skills, report writing and case note writing.
- Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people
- Demonstrated ability to apply early intervention and prevention activities that support the wellbeing of children, young people and families.
- Demonstrated ability to network effectively with other agencies to support a community approach to wellbeing.
