Barnardos are looking for a Casework Support Worker in the Family Connect and Support Program based in Katoomba.
This is a part time role 21hrs a week and a 12-month contract.
The Casework Support Worker will:
- Provide support to caseworkers with day-to-day tasks relating to casework with families and children, including case planning, information gathering and data collation.
- Complete basic intake for families seeking support through the FCS centralized intake line, community and/or outreach settings.
- Supporting FCS caseworkers in the facilitation of group work as needed based on community need.
- Provide short term/interim support for families referred in through universal outreach settings prior to allocation to caseworkers for ongoing support.
- Attend home visits as a secondary to children and families receiving support from FCS.
- Maintain timely and accurate data relating to client records, meetings and interactions that directly support case planning for children and families in FCS.
About You
As a Casework Support Worker, you will ideally have;
- Diploma in Welfare/Community Services and/or relevant work experience deemed to be the equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in information provision, information gathering and intake relating to children and young people in a child protection context and/or families experiencing vulnerabilities.
- Excellent understanding of child protection issues and client vulnerabilities such as drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, mental health issues, and the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour and development.
- Work effectively with groups and individuals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
- Valid full NSW Driver’s License.

Salary: Base $63,648- $71,136 pro rata per annum plus leave loading plus superannuation. Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.
To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
