Caseworker - Family Law Court Liaison Officer
Location - Sydney - Parramatta - Newcastle - Wollongong
Employment Type - Ongoing (Full-Time)
Salary - $79,032pa - $109,194pa plus employers contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
(Vacancy is Sydney based position, Flexible working practices with the possibility of working from various CSC locations or the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia Registry)
Your role
The Caseworker (Family Law Court Liaison Officer) role aims to improve information sharing and collaboration between DCJ and Family Law Courts to keep children and young people safe.
What you'll do
Family Law Court Liaison Officers work with judicial officers and court staff within the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA) also known as the Family Law Courts.
Within this role, you will work collaboratively with the Family Law Court Liaison Team, district staff, legal officers and internal stakeholders to develop consistent and improved DCJ processes and responses with the FCFCOA.
The role will support the FLCL Team in some of the following functions:

  • managing & triaging the incoming requests from the FCFCOA
  • preparing short return responses
  • preparing bundles of responses
  • redacting records that have been requested from the FCFCOA
  • supporting projects as they arise.
This role is generally based at our Parramatta Office with flexible working practices and the possibility of working from various local registries and CSC locations.
Please note - if you are successful for the role, you will begin your caseworker journey within the FLCL team. After this time you may be assigned to other roles at the same classification such as Child Protection Caseworker within the Department's community service centre for organisational or capability development reasons.
What we're looking for
To be a Caseworker you need to be confident, curious and resilient. The essential requirements include:
  • Preferred Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Social Science and Welfare along with practical experience.
  • Other related degrees are considered, if you can demonstrate your knowledge skills and experience working with vulnerable children, young people and families
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in child protection, out of home care or provision of casework in another setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to build positive working relationships
  • A valid driver's licence (P1 or above)
  • A paid working with children clearance number
