ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated person to work for Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal Corporation (Narang Bir-rong). Narang Bir-rong provides Family Support Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families in Western Sydney, Nepean Blue Mountains, Northern Sydney/Eastern Sydney/Sydney and connected communities as well as Out of Home Care placements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who cannot remain at home due to abuse and/or neglect.

The role is full-time (35hrs per week). 

The Caseworker Targeted Early Intervention (TEI) role works in the Northern Sydney area.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

The role will ensure high quality provision of culturally appropriate support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children 0-18, their families and communities. The TEI program aims to provide effective Early Intervention services to strengthen communities, and particularly groups experiencing or at risk of vulnerability, and to promote child, youth and family wellbeing and safety.

NBAC PAY SCALES (ABOVE AWARD WAGE)

  • CW/S6 to CW/S14
  • $89,055 - $113,133 (Package includes leave loading and Superannuation)

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Aboriginality is a genuine qualification under the Anti-Discrimination Act.
  • Evidence of at least two COVID-19 Vaccinations.
  • Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) & National Police Check for employment purposes.
  • Valid NSW driver's license 
  • Qualifications in Community Services or relevant field.
  • Knowledge of issues pertaining to the Stolen Generation and transgenerational trauma.
  • Knowledge of child protection issues with the capacity to identify when the level of risks requires intensive casework, safety planning and statutory child protection intervention.
  • Experience in case management within child protection, out of home care, Early Intervention or family support.
  • Experience and knowledge of providing practical assistance to Aboriginal families (including financial literacy) to alleviate poverty and disadvantage.
  • Experience in working along-side external stakeholders to ensure the provision of appropriate referrals, advocacy and support for clients.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills, demonstrated report writing and presentation skills and use of Microsoft office programs including word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Varied professional and general life experience.
